Let guests join your network without typing the password.

What it does

A Wi-Fi QR code carries the network name, the security type and the password in the standard format phones understand. Guests point the camera at it and tap to join, with no long password to type.

It is ideal for homes with visitors, cafés, offices, holiday rentals and events. The code works on recent Android phones and iPhones straight from the camera, and on older phones through a QR reader app.

The password is stored inside the code. If you change the router password, the old code stops working and you need a new one.

How to use

  1. Type the network name (SSID) exactly as it appears in the Wi-Fi list.
  2. Choose the security type; most routers use WPA/WPA2/WPA3.
  3. Enter the password, or choose an open network if there is none.
  4. Tick hidden network only if the router does not broadcast its name.
  5. Test the preview with a phone and then download or print it.

Examples

  • A framed card in the living room for visiting family and friends.
  • A sticker on café tables so customers connect without asking.
  • The welcome guide of a holiday rental.
  • A guest network sign at the office reception.

Frequently asked questions

Does the code change if I change the password?

Yes. The password is stored inside the code, so a new password needs a new code. Remember to replace the printed copies too.

Which phones can join with the code?

iPhones with iOS 11 or later and most Android phones from Android 10 on join straight from the camera. Older phones can use a QR reader app that supports Wi-Fi codes.

Which security type should I choose?

Pick WPA/WPA2/WPA3, which covers almost every current router. Use WEP only for very old equipment and open network only when the Wi-Fi has no password; the type is shown in the router settings.

Can people see the password?

The camera joins the network without showing it, but anyone with a QR reader app can read the code content. Put the code only where you would also write the password, and prefer a separate guest network.

What is a hidden network?

It is a network whose name the router does not broadcast, so it does not show up in the Wi-Fi list. Tick the option only in that case, otherwise some phones take longer to connect.

Why does the phone not connect?

Check that the network name and password match exactly, including capitals and spaces, and that the security type is right. Also make sure the phone is within range of the router.

Privacy and permanence

The network name and password stay on your device: the code is built in your browser and nothing is sent to our servers. The password is masked on screen until you choose to show it, and it stays readable in every printed copy until you replace the code.
