What it does
An email QR code uses the standard mailto link. When someone scans it, the phone opens the email app with the recipient, subject and message already written.
It helps collect requests in a fixed format, such as quote requests, support tickets or sign-ups for a list. The person still reviews the email and decides whether to send it.
Subject and message are optional. A short subject that identifies the source, such as the name of the event, makes the emails easier to sort later.
How to use
- Type the email address that will receive the messages.
- Write a subject, if you want to identify where the email came from.
- Add a message the person can complete before sending.
- Scan the preview to check the email that opens.
- Download or print the code.
Examples
- A product label that opens a support request with the model in the subject.
- A school notice board for parents to email the office.
- A conference slide asking for feedback with a ready subject.
Frequently asked questions
Is the email sent automatically?
No. The email app opens with everything filled in, and the person reviews it and taps send.
Which email app opens?
The phone opens its default email app, such as Gmail, Outlook or Apple Mail. If more than one is installed and none is the default, the phone asks which one to use.
Can I send to more than one address?
This generator creates codes for one recipient, which is what every email app opens reliably. Use a group address of your email provider to reach several people.
Are accents and line breaks kept?
Accents are kept in the subject and the message, and line breaks are kept in the message. The mailto standard does not allow line breaks in the subject, so they become spaces there.
How long can the message be?
The subject accepts up to 250 characters and the message up to 2,000, but the whole email must fit in the QR code. Short texts make codes that scan more easily.
Privacy and permanence
The address, subject and message are encoded in your browser and are not sent to our servers. The code keeps working as long as the email address exists.
