What it does
A Telegram QR code opens a chat with a user, a public group, a channel or a bot. Type the @username or paste a t.me or telegram.me link; private invite links that start with + work too.
It is handy for community groups, announcement channels, support bots and event attendees who need to join a group quickly. Phones with Telegram open the chat directly; without the app, the browser shows the t.me page with a button to open it.
How to use
- Type the @username or paste the t.me link of the user, group, channel or bot.
- Copy the Final link if you also want to share it in messages.
- Scan the preview to make sure the right chat opens.
- Print the code on the notice or download it for your social posts.
Examples
- A condominium notice inviting residents to the announcements channel.
- A meetup badge that opens the event group.
- A store receipt with the support bot.
Frequently asked questions
Do private invite links work?
Yes. Paste the t.me/+ invite link created in the group settings. Anyone who scans the code can join right away, or request to join if admin approval is on for that link, so share it only where you want new members.
What if I revoke the invite link?
A revoked link stops working, and so does the code that holds it. Create a new code with the new invite link.
Does it work for bots?
Yes. Type the bot’s @username, which ends in bot, and the code opens the bot chat.
Can I link to a phone number?
Yes, with a t.me/+ link followed by the number in international format, but it only opens the chat if that person allows being found by phone number. A username is more reliable.
Do telegram.me links work?
Yes. telegram.me links are accepted and converted to the shorter t.me address. Both open the same chat.
Privacy and permanence
Invite links are private keys to your group: they are turned into the code in your browser and never reach our servers. The static code works until the username changes or you revoke the invite.
