Why use Octoolbox

How it works

  1. Pick the tool for what the code should do: open a link, join Wi-Fi, receive a Pix and more.
  2. Fill in the fields; the preview updates as you type.
  3. Adjust colors and style; for QR codes, wait for the read check.
  4. Download or print the code and test it with your phone camera.

Frequently asked questions

Is Octoolbox really free?

Yes. All tools are free, without sign-up or usage limits. The site is funded by ads, which will never cover the code preview or the download buttons.

Do the QR codes expire?

No. They are static codes, with the content stored in the pattern itself. A code only stops working if what it points to changes, such as a deleted page or a new Wi-Fi password.

Is what I type sent to your servers?

No. The codes are created in your browser, and the content you type, the images you read and the files you load stay on your device. We do not keep records of the codes you create.

Can I change a code after printing it?

No. A static code cannot be edited. To change what it does, create a new code, or keep the same link and update the page it opens.

Can I use the codes commercially?

Yes. You can use the codes on products, packaging, menus and ads with no attribution. You are responsible for the content you put in them.

Do you count how many times my code is scanned?

No. The codes open their destination directly, without passing through us, so there are no scan statistics. To measure visits, use campaign parameters in your own links.

Which size should I print a QR code?

At least 2 cm per side for reading up close, and larger for posters seen from a distance. Keep the white margin around the code and a dark code on a light background.
