What it does

A location QR code opens a place on the map so people can see where it is and start navigation. You can describe the place by address, as you would search for it, or by exact latitude and longitude for entrances, farms and spots without a street number.

Choose a Google Maps link, which opens on any phone in the app or the browser, or the geo: format, which lets the phone pick its own map app. The “Use my location” button fills in the coordinates of where you are now, using your browser.

How to use

  1. Choose to find the place by address or by coordinates.
  2. Type the address, paste “lat, lng” from Google Maps or use your current location.
  3. Keep the Google Maps link format unless you need geo:.
  4. Scan the preview to check the pin on the map.
  5. Download or print the code.

Frequently asked questions

Address or coordinates: which is better?

Addresses are easier for shops and homes. Coordinates are exact and better for large venues, rural areas or a specific gate.

Is my location sent to you when I use “Use my location”?

No. The browser asks for permission and gives the coordinates only to this page, which fills in the fields. Nothing is sent to our servers.

Why choose the Google Maps link over geo:?

The Google Maps link opens on every phone, in the app or the browser. The geo: format lets the phone choose its map app, but some readers and iPhones do not open it.

How do I copy coordinates from Google Maps?

Press and hold the spot on the map; the coordinates appear at the top or in the search box. In Coordinates mode, with the longitude field empty, paste them as “lat, lng” in the latitude field and both fields are filled.

Does the code show a route?

The code opens the place on the map. From there, the person taps the directions button to get a route from where they are.

Privacy and permanence

The address, the coordinates and your current position never leave your browser, even when you use your location. The static code points to the same place forever.
