What it does
Pix is the instant payment system of the Banco Central do Brasil. A Pix QR code carries your Pix key, your name and city and, optionally, the amount, so the payer only scans it in the banking app and confirms.
This generator creates static codes in the BR Code standard, the same format bank apps read. The same content is shown as Pix Copy and Paste (Copia e Cola), a text the payer can paste into the app when scanning is not possible, for example in a chat.
A static code does not confirm payments. Always check that the money arrived in your bank app before handing over goods or services.
How to use
- Type your Pix key and let the type be detected, or choose it.
- Fill in the receiver name and city as registered at the bank.
- Enter an amount, or leave it blank so the payer types it.
- Add a description or an identifier if you want to recognize the payment.
- Download the code or copy the Pix Copy and Paste text.
Examples
- A craft fair stall with a printed code and no fixed amount.
- A shared dinner bill sent as Pix Copy and Paste in the group chat.
- A donation poster for a church or a community project.
- A fixed-price service, such as a haircut, with the amount set.
Frequently asked questions
Does the Pix QR code expire?
No. A static code has no expiry date and can be paid many times, as long as the Pix key stays registered at your bank.
Can I leave the amount open?
Yes. Leave the amount blank and the payer types it in the banking app. This is handy for donations and stalls with varying prices.
Does the code confirm that I was paid?
No. Generating or showing a Pix code never confirms a payment. Check the credit in your bank app or statement before delivering.
Why are name and city required?
The BR Code standard of the Banco Central requires the receiver name (up to 25 characters) and city (up to 15) in every code. Before confirming, the payer’s bank app shows the name registered for the Pix key, which is the check that matters.
What is Pix Copy and Paste?
It is the same payment written as text. The payer copies it and pastes it in the Pix area of the bank app, which is useful when the code cannot be scanned.
Can people outside Brazil pay with this code?
Only people with an account at a Brazilian bank or payment institution that offers Pix can pay it. Visitors from abroad need such an account or a payment service that offers Pix to them.
Privacy and permanence
Your Pix key, name and amount are put together in your browser and never reach our servers. The static code keeps working as long as the key stays registered at your bank.
