What it does

A WhatsApp QR code opens a chat with your number when someone scans it. You can also fill in a first message, so the customer only has to tap send.

It works well for shops, deliveries, appointments and customer service. Pick the country, type the number as you usually write it and the code uses the international format WhatsApp expects.

The message is only a suggestion: the person can edit it and nothing is sent automatically. WhatsApp must be installed on the phone or used in the browser.

How to use

  1. Choose the country of the number.
  2. Type the phone number with the area code.
  3. Write the message that should appear in the chat, if you want one.
  4. Scan the preview to check that the right chat opens.
  5. Download or print the code for your counter, menu or packaging.

Examples

  • A bakery sign so customers order cakes with “Hi, I would like to order”.
  • A delivery flyer that opens the chat with the order already started.
  • A business card for booking appointments at a beauty salon.

Frequently asked questions

Is the message sent automatically?

No. The chat opens with the text typed in, and the person decides whether to edit and send it.

How should I type the number?

Pick the country and type the number as you would dial it locally, with the area code. The tool turns it into the international format; if you paste a number with + and the country code, that works too.

Does it work with WhatsApp Business?

Yes. The code uses the official wa.me link, which opens chats with personal and Business numbers alike.

Is there a limit for the message?

The field accepts up to 1,000 characters, but the link must also fit in the QR code, and accents, emoji and a high error correction level take more room. A short greeting fits easily and is friendlier for the customer.

Can I change the number later?

No. The number is stored inside the static code, so a new number needs a new code.

Privacy and permanence

The number and the message are put together in your browser and are not sent to our servers. Scanning the code hands them to WhatsApp directly, and the code works as long as the number stays active.
